Tuesday/Thursday 3-4:30

Instructor: Rachel Iannacone riannaco@sas.upenn.edu
Office Hours: Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-5:30

Architecture, like writing, is a form of communication; a building conveys meaning. By looking at and reading about architecture and urban design, you will learn how architects, authors and city planners use artistic forms and conventions to communicate. More importantly, this course is designed to prepare you for the variety of writing assignments you will encounter as college students. As we engage in academic discourse on the subject of architecture and its relationship to the urban experience, you will complete a series of written assignments, both in and out of class, which will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses as a writer and improve your writing. During the course of the semester, you will learn not only about Architecture and American Cities but also how to write a clear and convincing argument.
