This seminar will examine the ideas of a number of influential theorists in a variety of disciplines that have contributed to the ways in which we understand and evaluate art.  A tentative list includes Kant, Fry, Greenberg, Benjamin, Marcuse, Lacan, Mulvey, Krauss, Barthes, and Baudrillard.  This seminar is open only to graduate students.  Permission of the instructor required.
